چکیده
The understanding of the dynamics nonequilibrium cooling and heating processes at nanoscale is still an open problem. These can follow surprising relaxation paths due to, e.g., memory effects, which significantly alter expected equilibration routes. Kovacs effect take place when a thermalization process suddenly interrupted by change bath temperature, leading to non-monotonic dependence energy system. Here, we demonstrate that be observed in center mass motion levitated nanoparticle. temperature controlled during experiment through external source white gaussian noise. We describe our experiments terms Brownian particle harmonic trap without any fitting parameter, suggesting canappear large variety systems.

Cavity opto-mechanics using an optically levitated nanosphere.
Recently, remarkable advances have been made in coupling a number of high-Q modes of nano-mechanical systems to high-finesse optical cavities, with the goal of reaching regimes in which quantum behavior can be observed and leveraged toward new applications. To reach this regime, the coupling between these systems and their thermal environments must be minimized. Here we propose a novel approach...
متن کاملCavity cooling of an optically levitated submicron particle.
The coupling of a levitated submicron particle and an optical cavity field promises access to a unique parameter regime both for macroscopic quantum experiments and for high-precision force sensing. We report a demonstration of such controlled interactions by cavity cooling the center-of-mass motion of an optically trapped submicron particle. This paves the way for a light-matter interface that...
متن کاملObservation of nitrogen vacancy photoluminescence from an optically levitated nanodiamond.
We present what we believe to be the first evidence of nitrogen vacancy (NV) photoluminescence (PL) from a nanodiamond suspended in a free-space optical dipole trap at atmospheric pressure. The PL rates are shown to decrease with increasing trap laser power, but are inconsistent with a thermal quenching process. For a continuous-wave trap, the neutral charge state (NV(0)) appears to be suppress...
متن کاملOptically levitated nanoparticle as a model system for stochastic bistable dynamics
Nano-mechanical resonators have gained an increasing importance in nanotechnology owing to their contributions to both fundamental and applied science. Yet, their small dimensions and mass raises some challenges as their dynamics gets dominated by nonlinearities that degrade their performance, for instance in sensing applications. Here, we report on the precise control of the nonlinear and stoc...
متن کاملKovacs-Like Memory Effect in Athermal Systems: Linear Response Analysis
We analyze the emergence of Kovacs-like memory effects in athermal systems within the linear response regime. This is done by starting from both the master equation for the probability distribution and the equations for the physically-relevant moments. The general results are applied to a general class of models with conserved momentum and non-conserved energy. Our theoretical predictions, obta...
